Local, state and federal officials gathered to mark the groundbreaking of Phase I of TxDOT’s State Loop 195, a long-planned relief route now scheduled to begin construction in early 2026. The project has been discussed since the 1980s, and is expected to eventually carry about 10,000 vehicles per day and reduce congestion along the U.S. Highway 83. The ceremony marked a major milestone for a transportation project decades in the making.
