LAREDO, Texas - The number of pedestrians crossing Texas-Mexico international bridges is down significantly, according to the latest reports.
The latest statistics from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics shows pedestrian crossings down 50 percent, compared to last year.
The data will come as no surprise to city and federal leaders. McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos has been warning that the numbers would be bad. He has called on the federal government to be more welcoming of Mexican shoppers and tourists.
