The Pharr Economic Development Corporation has committed $189,000 to support a partnership with Region One Education Service Center aimed at expanding teacher certification opportunities. The funding will help cover partial certification program costs for 45 participants who live or work in Pharr. The initiative is intended to increase the number of certified educators in critical subject areas while supporting teacher preparation and placement in schools. A partnership designation ceremony is scheduled for March 12, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Pharr Economic Development Corporation offices, 1215 S. Cage Blvd. in Pharr.
