McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos met with Tampico Mayor Mónica Villarreal on Sept. 15 to discuss trade, investment and opportunities for cross-border collaboration. Joined by McAllen Assistant City Manager Juan Olaguibel, Villalobos emphasized McAllen’s role as a hub for international commerce, tourism and retail. The meeting builds on the Friendship Cities agreement signed in 2024, which seeks to strengthen ties and promote joint economic initiatives. The partnership will help drive growth and deepen cooperation between McAllen and Tampico.
