The City of McAllen announced grant awards from the Mayor’s State of the City Fund to three local nonprofits. On behalf of Javier Villalobos, city commissioners presented $2,000 to Lamb’s Loom, which began as a prayer-shawl ministry and now teaches knitting and crochet while supporting outreach locally and abroad. A $1,000 contribution was also awarded to the McAllen Pregnancy Center to support free and confidential pregnancy and sexual-health services, relationship education and parenting programs. Another $1,000 was given to My Little Carrousel, which assists Valley children with disabilities and from low-income households through resources and enrichment opportunities.
