A delegation from the Laredo Chamber of Commerce traveled to Washington as part of its Bridges to D.C. initiative to discuss regional priorities with federal and state officials. The meetings focused on issues affecting cross-border commerce, infrastructure investment, workforce development, small business growth and transportation along the U.S.-Mexico corridor. Participants met with staff from the office of Jason Smith of the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means and advisers to María Elvira Salazar, as well as representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Small Business Administration. The City of Laredo partnered with the chamber in the effort to ensure the region’s business community and economic priorities were represented at the federal level.
