The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation partnered with Region One Education Service Center to support aspiring teachers through a $21,000 contribution announced Sept. 3 in Harlingen. The funding will cover certification costs for five Harlingen residents enrolled in Region One ESC’s Teacher Alternative Certification Program. Participants will receive coaching, mentorship and exam preparation at no cost, with priority on Career and Technical Education programs at Harlingen CISD. The initiative is powered by the Rio South Texas Education & Community Development Foundation to help address teacher shortages and workforce needs.
