The Brownsville City Commission proclaimed Dec. 9 as Helen Ramirez Day, honoring City Manager Helen Ramirez for her leadership and impact on the city. Ramirez was the city’s first female city manager, and was also presented with a key to the city. She is set to step down at the end of the year as the city prepares for a leadership transition.
