The Brownsville Fire Department celebrated its 150th anniversary with a ceremony honoring generations of firefighters who have served the community. Brownsville Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Esmy Villarreal emceed the event, which recognized retired personnel and the department’s first female firefighters. Local, state and federal representatives, including those from the offices of Sen. John Cornyn and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, joined city officials in commemorating the milestone.
