The Brownsville Community Improvement Corp. has been selected to receive The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Community Partner Recognition Award for the 2024–2025 academic year, officials announced Dec. 16. UTRGV recognized 13 organizations across the Rio Grande Valley, with Brownsville honorees including BCIC, Gladys Porter Zoo and Proyecto Juan Diego. The award highlights BCIC’s partnership with UTRGV’s Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center through the eBridge Center for Business and Commercialization, which supports entrepreneurs and small businesses across the region. The collaboration has also received multiple national recognitions in recent years from the University Economic Development Association and the International Economic Development Council.
