Here are 11 examples showing the economic importance of Mexico to the USA:

1. Trade. The USMCA has provided a legal and regulatory framework to promote trade, strengthen economic collaboration, and build a competitive, sustainable, and inclusive North America region. Source: The Wilson Center.

2. According to the US Census Bureau, since 2023 and again in 2025, Mexico is the top trading partner of the U.S., with $971 billion USD in trade of both goods and services, versus $933.2 billion USD in 2024.
