In Tamaulipas we strongly support the position of our President, Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, against the unilateral decision of the United States Government to impose unjustified tariffs on Mexican exports.
Cooperation and mutual respect should be the pillars of our bilateral relationship, not imposition or interventionism.
Mexico has demonstrated with facts its commitment to security and the fight against trafficking in illegal substances. As the President pointed out, in the past five months historical advances have been made in confiscations, dismantling of underground laboratories and reducing violence in the country.
Tamaulipas has been part of this effort, coordinating actions with the federal government to strengthen security at the hand of the National Guard, the Secretary of Defense, the Navy and by his post, our State Guard, as well as boost economic development in the border region.
The trade relationship between Mexico and the U.S. not only benefits our businesses and workers, but also millions of American citizens who depend on this economic integration. Imposing trade barriers is not only an unfair decision, but also detrimental to both nations.
From Tamaulipas, we reaffirm our commitment to a strong, sovereign and independent Mexico. We don't accept one-sided decisions that affect the well-being of our families and our economy. We support the measures that the Government of Mexico will take in defense of our sovereignty and the interests of our people.
We call on the people of Tamaulipas to stand together at this crucial time. It is time to defend Mexico with intelligence, dignity and unity.
To President Claudia Sheinbaum, our total support. In Tamaulipas we are with you.
