PHARR, Texas - Pharr Economic Development Corporation President Victor Perez has welcomed his city’s latest big box store - IKEA.
The eagerly anticipated official opening takes place Oct. 1.
Perez said he and his team worked closely with LEVCOR, owners of Pharr Town Center to land IKEA.
Here is a video recording of an interview the Rio Grande Guardian secured with Perez inside the new store:
Keena Garcia, IKEA’S marketing manager for the San Antonio market, spoke about the store’s upcoming Pharr location. She said it will be IKEA’s first smaller format store.
“It is really important for us that we are coming into these new areas with a format that fits the area with smaller business buildings, using our sustainability approach and reusing buildings that have been empty.”
