Gonzalez: To be successful in RGV, just copy something that's working well in bigger metros

MCALLEN, Texas - Jesus Gonzalez is a highly successful businessman that came to McAllen from Monterrey 30 years ago with next to nothing. His main businesses are Via Executive Suites, NIU Urban Living, and the Mercado District. 

The Rio Grande Guardian International News Service caught up with Gonzalez at the Mercado District, where he gave us a sneak preview of a new fine dining restaurant he will be unveiling soon. 

Gonzalez said these are great times to be in business in the Rio Grande Valley, because of all the economic growth.

“I think this is truly a solid ground for people who really want to succeed easier and better than, in my opinion, than Austin or San Antonio, because you're going to face a lot more competition there. Here it is growing so fast, and big corporations are just beginning to pay attention, which gives opportunity for us with great ideas, do a little bit something. You don't have to invent anything, just copy something being done in a large city, and you'll be successful.”
