PHARR, TEXAS - To paraphrase singer songwriter Alicia Keys, the City of Pharr is on fire.
That is the view of Juanita “Janie’ Cavazos, property and business development manager for Pharr Economic Development Corporation.
Cavazos concluded her powerpoint presentation at Industrial Warehouse Summit No.4 (IWS4) with an instruction to Rio Grande Guardian Editor Steve Taylor. She said:
“So, I have a seven-year-old granddaughter that loves to sing. She loves to sing Alicia Keys’ This Girl’s On Fire. So, guess what? This city’s on fire. And we see it with all these projects. So, Steve, write that down. This is city is on fire,” Cavazos said.
In her presentation, Cavazos gave updates on new projects underway. These include:
Capote International Business Park
C&J Logistical Services, Inc.
Dekal Industrial Park
JG Customs Dry Storage Warehouse
Parker & Company Worldwide
Zuko Industrial Construction
Lakeway Foods
In fact, Cavazos said, Zuko has three projects currently under construction. “It is wonderful what they are doing,” Cavazos said of the company.

In addition to listing existing industrial parks, Cavazos spoke in depth about nine new industrial parks that are either under construction or soon will be. She also spoke about two industrial park expansions - Capote International Business Park and Pharr Bridge Business Park. And, although there are not many, Cavazos also listed a few warehouses in Pharr that are currently for sale.
IWS4 was hosted by Pharr EDC and held at the Pharr Development and Research Center.
