Harlingen, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (RGVAGC) has thanked Texas LNG for financially supporting the Chapter’s new Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program.
Texas LNG, part of Glenfarne Group, LLC, plans to build a liquefied natural gas export terminal at the Port of Brownsville.
RGVAGC's program is a regional workforce development initiative designed to train and certify local residents in critical heavy equipment skills.
Joey Treviño, executive director of RGVAGC, noted that Texas LNG’s need for skilled heavy equipment operators and construction professionals is expected to increase significantly in the months ahead. He hopes the students on RGVAGC’s new course will benefit.
“Glenfarne’s support demonstrates a strong commitment to our regional workforce and to ensuring local residents are trained and ready for the opportunities this project will bring,” Treviño said. “Together, we are preparing the next generation of operators with the skills, safety standards, and certifications needed to build Texas LNG and other major infrastructure projects in the Valley.”
Here is an interview the RGG Business Journal secured with Treviño about the new program:
Treviño said RGVAGC’s Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program has been developed in partnership with Workforce Solutions Cameron. He said it will train 100 students across Cameron and surrounding counties in NCCER Core and Heavy Equipment Operations Levels 1–3, including simulator-based and hands-on training on excavators, skid steers, and off-road dump trucks.
“As we move forward with Texas LNG, we recognize that a well-trained, safety-conscious workforce is essential,” said Vlad Bluzer, Co-President of Texas LNG and Partner, Glenfarne Group, LLC. “We’re proud to support RGVAGC’s efforts to build a strong pipeline of skilled operators from within the Rio Grande Valley.”
Through this partnership, Treviño said, RGVAGC will continue expanding access to career-ready training, including financial aid opportunities for Cameron County residents through Workforce Solutions Cameron. He said the program reinforces RGVAGC’s ongoing mission to promote the AGC motto — Skill, Integrity, and Responsibility — and to build the workforce that builds Texas.
