PHARR, Texas - The STX Data & AI Network has held its first official in-person meeting. Hitherto the meetings had been held via Zoom.

Founder Andy Garcia said the energy in the room was incredible.

“We covered internal structure, communication channels, project ideas, regional challenges and opportunities and most importantly, how we can come together to build something meaningful for South Texas,” Garcia told the RGG Business Journal.

“From engineers in software, robotics, and manufacturing, to data scientists and analysts to educators, designers, and finance professionals — the versatility of this network is what will allow us to become a true regional resource for the Rio Grande Valley.”

Garcia gave a shoutout to Pharr Economic Development Corporation, the City of Pharr, and UT-Rio Grande Valley for helping make the event possible. He said the group plans to meet at the Pharr Global Business Hub once a month in the future.

“Our goal is simple: create real value for our community and stand as a resource the region can depend on,” Garcia said.

He added: “This is just the beginning. We are excited for what’s ahead.”
