BROWNSVILLE, Texas - Signaling that it is in growth mode, the RioPlex Alliance is seeking a dynamic branding agency to help promote its message across the world.
The group, which was formed earlier this year by Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force’s CEO Group, is also looking for an economic development director.
The group, which covers the Rio Grande Valley and northern Tamaulipas, defines itself as “a vital initiative to promote economic growth and attract investments in the dynamic binational region of Rio Grande Valley and Northern Mexico.”
The group says it is an initiative of the business sector, in collaboration with government authorities and nonprofit organizations.
“Our goal is to project the RioPlex region in a unified and strategic manner, driving economic development and promoting the attraction of foreign investment for both Mexico and the United States," RioPlex says, in a flyer.
RioPlex's director of economic development will be responsible for leading and executing strategies that strengthen investment in the region, fostering collaboration between sectors and maximizing binational economic opportunities.
“Are you passionate about economic development and investment in the region? Join our team and be part of a significant change in the RioPlex,” the flyer states.

RioPlex says it is looking for “innovative and experienced branding agencies” to help elevate its project. “Take the opportunity to make a mark in one of the most dynamic and growing regions in North America,” the group states.
A flyer produced by the group says: “This is a unique opportunity for branding professionals to make a significant impact by shaping the image of one of the most vibrant cross-border regions in the Americas. The RioPlex region, with its robust economy, diverse industries, and international connectivity, is ready for a fresh, cohesive brand identity that can powerfully communicate its value to the world.”
RioPlex says it needs bold, creative branding solutions.
“RioPlex invites local branding agencies to pitch comprehensive branding strategies that resonate with regional and global investors. We seek a partner to develop a compelling core brand for RioPlex, supported by cohesive brand guidelines and visual assets that will drive the region’s identity forward,” the flyer states.
“This endeavor requires a deep understanding of RioPlex’s geographically and economically unique characteristics and a keen sense of strategic branding. The RioPlex region covers a broad, economically diverse area that includes major U.S. and Mexico cities. In the U.S., this includes cities like McAllen, Mission, Edinburg, and Brownsville, as well as the iconic South Padre Island. Across the border in Mexico, key cities like Reynosa, Matamoros, and Miguel Alemán form an integral part of this cross-border economic hub.
With a population of over 3.5 million people, including 1.3 million in the Rio Grande Valley, the RioPlex region is a major player in regional and international trade. The area benefits from seven international airports and 13 international bridges, facilitating seamless cross-border movement of goods and people. Companies from over 20 countries have already established a presence here, demonstrating its global appeal as a business destination.
RioPlex says its region is a crucial gateway to North American markets, offering substantial advantages to companies looking to expand their reach in this part of the world. "Its strategic location, extensive infrastructure, and robust international connectivity position it as an essential hub for trade and investment, particularly for industries looking to tap into the world's largest economy, North America."
The RioPlex Alliance says its region is home to diverse industries, including manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, and technology, characterize the region's economy. "This diversity is a significant asset, positioning RioPlex as a flexible and attractive destination for various investments. The region’s proximity to Mexico also offers cross-border trade and collaboration opportunities, further enhancing its appeal," the group states.
The RioPlex Alliance adds:
“In June 2024, the Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force officially endorsed the RioPlex branding initiative. This effort was designed to unite the region’s many assets under a cohesive identity. By presenting RioPlex as a unified economic region, the campaign aims to eliminate the fragmented perception of the area as a collection of individual cities, thereby attracting larger investments and encouraging regional collaboration.
“The RioPlex branding initiative is more than just a marketing campaign—it’s a strategic move to enhance the region's competitiveness on the global stage. RioPlex will be better positioned to attract industries, talent, and investments that can transform the area for future generations by forging a strong, unified identity.
“This is your chance to be part of something big, helping to shape the future of a region with unlimited potential. If your agency has the creativity, strategic insight, and expertise to develop an iconic brand for RioPlex, we invite you to submit your proposal today.”
