Reyna's analysis

Mario Reyna, executive director of RioPlex, told the RGG Business Journal:

“The new RioPlex website is more than a digital platform—it is a window into the future of one of the most dynamic manufacturing corridors in North America.

“RioPlex believes deeply in the economic trajectory that Texas is on today, and our initiative embodies the same spirit that has made Texas the strongest economy in the nation: innovation, industry, trade, and global connectivity.

“While RioPlex began as a regional effort along the Rio Grande, it is increasingly becoming part of a broader Texas vision that links our state directly to the industrial power of northern Mexico.

“By highlighting our infrastructure, workforce, and cross-border collaboration, the website helps attract the kind of industrial investment that brings greater prosperity, strengthens human capital, and expands opportunity for the communities of the RioPlex region.

“Together, this corridor is positioning Texas and our region at the center of North America’s next era of industrial growth.”

2026 National Manufacturing Expo

Meanwhile, Reyna says RioPlex is “proud to support” an upcoming 2026 National Manufacturing Expo being hosted by UT-Rio Grande Valley’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing.

The expo takes place on UTRGV’s Brownsville Campus on Thursday, March 26.

“This is an important opportunity for our region. The expo will bring together manufacturing leaders, innovators, and higher education partners to discuss the future of energy manufacturing, emerging technologies, workforce development, and the strategic partnerships needed to strengthen our competitiveness,” Reyna said.

“As we continue positioning the RioPlex region as a leading destination for industrial investment, conversations like these are critical. This event aligns with our work to build a stronger, more connected manufacturing ecosystem across South Texas and Northern Tamaulipas.”
