WESLACO, Texas - RioPlex, the nonprofit set up to market the Rio Grande Valley and Northern Tamaulipas around the world, has announced its initial group of ambassadors.
The job of the ambassador is to promote RioPlex as the brand name for the region.
Businessman Joaquin Spamer says the plan is to find 150 ambassadors. The initial list has 24 names.
The first 24 ambdassadors were introduced at an event at South Texas College's Mid Valley Campus in Weslaco.
Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez said the event was a “tremendous success.” He said that was due to “the incredible individuals who were inducted into the program.”
Cortez said:
“We are deeply grateful to these distinguished business leaders for their commitment, vision, and leadership. Your dedication is helping to put RioPlex on the map, attracting new investment, and driving long-term prosperity for our region.
“Together, through collaboration and shared purpose, we are building a stronger, more vibrant future for the Rio Grande Valley. Thank you for being part of this important milestone. We’re excited for what’s ahead.”
