MCALLEN, Texas - The Regional Hispanic Contractors Association believes it serves as a “Hispanic Chamber of Commerce” in the architectural, engineering, and construction industries.
RHCA was formed in 1995 to address the needs of one of the fastest-growing sectors of the construction industry. It was then known as the Hispanic Contractors Association of DFW.
Today, the group assists, new, small, and emerging general contractors and subcontractors with project procurement, construction safety, and sustainability.
Its membership profiles include general contractors, sub-contractors, small business owners, engineers, architects, construction workers, safety training educators/instructors, and students.

RHCA started the Luna Awards 17 years ago to help shine a spotlight on the achievements of women, women-owned businesses, and passionate advocates who champion the growth and empowerment of women across all levels of the architecture, engineering, and construction industries.
RHCA President and CEO John H. Martinez says Luna celebrates trailblazers, innovators, and leaders who are shaping the future and transforming these fields with their talent, vision, and dedication.
The awards are presented at galas in Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and, now, for the first time, the Rio Grande Valley.
The Valley gala was co-hosted by RHCA and the RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and held at the DoubleTree Suites in McAllen. The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was recently named the medium-sized Chamber of the Year by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at their awards ceremony in Kansas City.
Among the speakers at the McAllen event was Elizabeth Ponce-Garza, the RHCA Foundation Chair, of Picasso Contractors, LLC. Here is a video recording of her remarks:
