MCALLEN, Texas - Although the RioPlex Alliance is looking for an economic development director, this does not mean the group is morphing into an economic development organization.
That is the message from Mario Reyna, one of the lead organizers of the Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force. RioPlex grew out of the CEO Group, a subcommittee of the task force.
In an in-depth video interview, Reyna said RioPlex is staying true to its mission of marketing the South Texas and Northern Tamaulipas region around the world. He said the group is close to hiring a branding company to help in this effort. And he explained why they need an economic development director.
Reyna also spoke about the work of the task force, which was set up by Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez to reduce poverty in the region.
