Peña: Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation has started 2025 with great momentum

Posted

The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation started 2025 with great momentum, actively strengthening Brownsville’s presence on multiple fronts.

Some of our team traveled to Dallas with the RGV Partnership for ICSC Red River, forging new connections with retail and development leaders, while others joined the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce in Austin, Texas, ensuring our city’s voice is heard in key regional economic discussions.

Back at home, we kicked off February with the first-ever Startup Texas Pitch Fest at the eBridge Center, bringing together incredible entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative ideas and fuel the spirit of innovation in our community. Activity at eBridge continues to grow, engaging not only its members but also the broader public through workshops, networking events, and resources that support business development.

We're also thrilled to welcome two new board members, Dr. Rose M.Z. Gowen and Eva Garcia. Dr. Gowen, who previously served on our board a decade ago, returns with invaluable experience and a deep commitment to Brownsville’s growth. Their leadership and expertise will help guide our mission forward.

Additionally, applications for the Quality of Life Grant are currently under review, and we look forward to supporting transformative projects that will enhance our community’s well-being and economic vitality.

With momentum on our side, we’re looking ahead to another month of growth, collaboration, and new opportunities. Let’s keep building together!
