MCALLEN, Texas - Jesus Gonzalez, owner of the Mercado District in McAllen, has welcomed the arrival of his latest tenant, MOMOLE USA from Reynosa.
In an interview with the Rio Grande Guardian, Gonzalez said the food is unlike anything else available at the district.
“Have you tried it (their mole) It is amazing. They have the best quality and they made it very simple in the sense that anyone without any experience can make it (the mole) at home with the kits that they sell. You can eat it here if you don't have the time to cook. But if you want to do it at home, you can replicate it because it is very self explanatory.”
Gonzalez gave a shoutout to McAllen Economic Development Corporation for landing the restaurant.
“They (MOMOLE) were brought in by McAllen Economic Development Corporation, and we thought it was a perfect match. Although we already have someone selling Mexican food and we don't allow many others, that was a completely different concept that we feel we're proud to offer here at the Mercado District,” Gonzalez said.
“We’re very proud of everything that McAllen does. It's top notch, and now that they (the EDC) has joined forces with Chamber of Commerce, we're very happy.”
Susie Flores, vice president of business recruitment and retention at McAllen EDC, has known the owners of MOMOLE for many years. She helped them expand from Reynosa to McAllen.
“We are grateful they chose McAllen as the home for their U.S. expansion and look forward to seeing their vision flourish,” McAllen EDC said, in a posting on social media.
“Congratulations to the MOMOLE USA family on this exciting milestone and thank you for sharing your delicious food with us. Welcome to McAllen, MOMOLE USA your future is bright here in our community.”
Marketing students at UT-Rio Grande Valley helped develop a business plan for MOMOLE USA under the tutelage of Professor Eloy Garza. Garza was present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. McAllen EDC and Garza work together on projects to help his students gain more real world experience.
McAllen EDC thanked Garza, along with Texas Regional Bank, and Cacheaux, Cavazos & Newton.
