Everything two top Valeo executives said at South Texas College forum

McALLEN, Texas - South Texas College co-hosted a forum with McAllen Economic Development Corporation titled Sustainability in Manufacturing & Future Workforce.

The event featured presentations by two top executives at Valeo: Jean-Luc di Paola-Galloni, global external affairs and chief sustainability officer, and Zobeida Gutierrez, the company’s CAP 50 director.

Valeo is a leading global automotive technology company, a Tier 1 supplier partnering with major automakers and mobility players worldwide, as well as a global aftermarket service. The French company aims to innovate to drive the transition toward safer and more sustainable mobility, and leverage deep engineering expertise to solve the industry's most complex challenges.

Valeo has a high-tech manufacturing plant in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, and is building another on Ware Road in south McAllen. The new plant is just one mile up the road from STC’s technology campus, which is where the forum was held.

Gutierrez and di Paola-Galloni spoke about the company’s plans for the McAllen plant, in addition to giving an overview of the company’s product line and culture.

The audience mostly comprised high school students. Many of whom were interested in working for the high-tech company. They had many questions for the company executives. 

The event wrapped up with remarks from Josh Vasquez, vice president of business and workforce development for McAllen EDC, and Rodney H. Rodriguez, vice president of institutional advancement and external affairs for STC.
