Covarrubias pens new book on US-Mexico trade

Posted

LAREDO, Texas - Daniel Covarrubias is director of the Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development at Texas A&M International University in Laredo. The center is housed within the A.R. Sanchez, Jr., School of Business at TAMIU.

Covarrubias, a regular columnist for the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service, wrote a book last year titled "Navigating the New Era of US-Mexico Trade - Infrastructure, Technology and the Future of Cross Border Trade." The book came out last September.

“The idea was to be able to put in a very easy format what goes on with cross border trade. So, it offers a comprehensive view of how US-Mexico trade relationships are advancing,” Covarrubias said.

The only problem, Covarrubias acknowledges, is that our relations with Mexico are evolving. The Guardian asked the author if anything has changed since last September. He gave a wry smile.

“I've been trying to give myself time to also do an e-book. And the idea with the e-book is to basically get to the end of the book and say, okay, everything you've read, wait a minute,” Covarrubias said.

The changes to US-Mexico trade policy being implemented by the Trump administration are keeping the author busy, Covarrubias admitted in an exclusive interview with the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service.

Here is a video recording of an interview the Guardian conducted with Covarrubias about his new book:
