HIDALGO, Texas - Hidalgo Mayor Sergio Coronado says his city has secured a $224,182 grant from USDA’s Rural Business Cooperative Service.
He said the Rural Business Enterprise Grant will provide funding for Rural Business Technical Assistance Services benefiting small, start-up and existing businesses.
The total funding for the initiative is $249,182, including a $25,000 match provided by the City of Hidalgo, Coronado explained. The assistance for the city’s business community will take place within the Hidalgo International Business Incubator.
“The City of Hidalgo is committed to promoting economic development and business growth,” Coronado said. “These funds will continue to support established initiatives that support local rural small businesses.”
Coronado (pictured above) said the Hidalgo International Business Incubator is able to physically house 18 independent businesses. In addition, common area services and virtual services are also available for the convenience of rural, small businesses throughout Hidalgo County.
"The Technical Assistance Initiative will help provide entrepreneurial skills to small and emerging businesses in the start and/or growth of their business; and foment the creation and preservation of quality jobs in the area,” Coronado said.
The City of Hidalgo is inviting the community to a funding announcement at the Hidalgo Economic Development Corporation office on Oct. 12, starting at 11:30 a.m. the mayor announced.
