BROWNSVILLE, Texas - Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation has received over 150 RSVPs for the group’s latest pitch competition.

The StartUp Texas Emerging Industries Pitch Competition takes place Thursday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m. at the eBridge Center for Business and Commercialization (1304 E Adams St, Brownsville, TX 78520).

The event will be presented by Ruby Red Hospitality and the Mitte Foundation.

The competition will focus on diverse sectors like software, green tech, biotech, heavy manufacturing, energy, and medical innovations.

BCIC says nine entrepreneurs will pitch their businesses in front of a panel of judges for a chance to win $40,000, $20,000, or $10,000 from a pool of seed funding awards.

Because of the large number of RSVPs, BCIC has provided advice on where to park.

“Wow! We received over 150 RSVPs for StartUp Texas,” said Nathan Burkhart, vice president of entrepreneurship and innovation at BCIC.

“If you’re attending, this is a friendly reminder that parking at the Parking Garage is a great option or you can also use the Flow Bird app to find available parking spots. The eBridge Center will open its doors at 5 pm, and we will start not long after since this time we have nine entrepreneurs pitching their businesses for a chance to win up to $40,000 in seed funding.”

Burkhart added: “If you already RSVP’d – firstly, thank you so much you don’t have to do it again – you can now wait patiently for today’s event and start thinking about the phenomenal food, drinks, and networking opportunities you will have access to.”
