WESLACO, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Broadband Coalition, which has the support of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC), has unveiled the RGV Broadband and Digital Opportunity Plan.
The group says the plan is a "bold initiative to ensure every home, business, and community anchor institution in the region has access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet."
The group points out that much of the RGV still lacks reliable internet access, holding the region back in a world that increasingly depends on digital tools.
The digital opportunity plan was unveiled at the offices of LRGVDC in Weslaco on Feb. 25, 2025. At the launch, the Rio Grande Guardian interviewed the director of the Rio Grande Valley Broadband Coalition, Jordana Barton-Garcia.
